Since I had a stroke while on active duty (related to a chest injury), I was sent off for a nice emergency surgery. Which turned out to an experimental surgery, but hey, I couldn't say no, or even sign on the dotted line if I did want it.
My CO let me finish my career. I have been awarded 100% compensation from the VA, also.
Hint: If you have the use of one arm and one leg, crawl away, before they put you into the ambulance. Having a severely decreased memory really is not good.
