The Brits had a similar rig in WWII for the Paratroopers, better than walking but not by much.

CSM Richard StCyr Oh wow. Their gas tank is up front. Looks about a gallon size. So this isn't anything new.

SGT (Join to see) - No, seems like its one of those cyclic things. We were issued one dirt bike per battalion in the S-2 shop for the Engineer recon section back in the mid 80's. They didn't last long because of injuries and poor reliability and it made no sense to have a lone Soldier trying to do Engineer recons.
The one shown above was for the Airborne HQ sections couriers and from what I've read of them they worked ok on paved and hard packed roads only.

CSM Richard StCyr - Thanks for your explanation. If I was still in, I don't think I'd like it very much. I'd much prefer being dropped in, since the Airborne has them.

SGT (Join to see) Trust me. They can tell who's who, that and the SpecOps would wear glint and IR tape as a precaution

SSG Michael Hartsfield, The bad guys wouldn't be able to see It? What about when they're riding on the roads in daytime towards a check point station ? I hope no trigger happy guard would fire on them. Just things I'm thinking about.

they have tried this kind of things before and to no avail...
this is just going down the same roads again... the problem is that no one is listening to the Boots on the ground...
