If "they" really want to build nations, how does it make sense to send in the agency that is equipped and trained to destroy nations. Shouldn't there be a separate group for nation building? We could call it the Peace Corps.

Our military #1, needs to be focused on defending our nation, and giving aid in the times it's need. Nation Building should be separate of our military. Iran, and Afghanistan are prime examples!!!

Like the pic and your note about when you saw the beginnings of the military buildup. That was the time that the requirement for the Osprey came about. Now, when was it actually placed into service?

"The failure of the Iran hostage rescue mission in 1980 demonstrated to the United States military a need[6][7] for "a new type of aircraft, that could not only take off and land vertically but also could carry combat troops, and do so at speed."[8] The U.S. Department of Defense began the Joint-service Vertical take-off/landing Experimental (JVX) aircraft program in 1981, under U.S. Army leadership."
