I was on SAC alert when the NORAD computer mishap occurred. When I decoded the Emergency Action Message (EAM) as a Positive Control Officer on a B-52, it decoded to "Actual" instead of the usual "Exercise". We started engines, taxied, but never launched. It was a scary time for the entire crew. Besides the normal checklist items, the crew was silent the entire time.

Way back in the day during a weekend drill was perusing a listing of US Army training supplies/materials and there was a nuclear bomb simulator! Asked the tech at USAR Center what were the odds of being able to order one (less than zero for a TC unit!)

Spent plenty of quality time @ Sixth Army/Presidio of San Francisco but never saw a demo like this! Scroll to 13:50 in video. My guesstimate = they were somewhere around here on the map.
