When I see a statement like this in the third paragraph, it tells me the slant and bias that will follow.
"rules issued by his administration NOW determine... How many miles per gallon their cars need to average".
Makes it sound like Obama set rules abour mpg averages that no other president had ever done. That this represents some new, onerous overregulation due to the Obama administration.
Of course, that is total BS. Every year since the law passed in 1975 (signed by a republican president) EVERY administration has issued rules for how many mpg our cars need to have.

SMSgt Jesse Ohlsson - The market isn't run by morons; in fact, it's not "run" at all. It's influenced by everyone, geniuses and morons alike; and eventually, it ALWAYS moves in the direction most advantageous overall. As for your evidence of EPA standards improving things, a broken watch is right twice a day.

How I came to my answers was buy typing in the most efficient road going electric car on how many joules of energy it would use in an hour of run time and found out how much a lbs of coal could produce. Then I went and found out how much carbon is burned by a gallon of diesel a gallon of gasoline and a lbs of coal.
I made that all even across the board. Balanced the fuels to go by the weight was equal to gallon.
That's when gasoline surged ahead and was better than diesel. Then to find out which was better between the diesel and electric I went with valid assumptions. Oil goes to refinery, made into diesel and then shipped out, process over. Electric cars need their fuel cells mined and then made in another country, yes I get it so do gas burners. But mine is made on aluminum and is easily made.
So yes while the numbers are extremely hard to find cause I couldn't find most of them. But when it comes to the battery pack vs fuel tank and the power plants of the vehicles. The carbon foot print starts looking more like a bomb crater than a foot print compared to a gas burner.
Where green technology would be better suited would be in the power generation area of electricity for fixed objects.
Btw another thing about electric is it can't go nearly as far. My truck can go nearly a 1000 miles on a tank and battery is luck to break 200 SMSgt Jesse Ohlsson -

One significant problem for whoever wins the election; President Obama has left a few domestic and international time bombs that are set to go off over the next 4-8 years. I think it is analogous to the CEO who follows short term policies, exercises stock options and then "retires" before the bill comes due.
I think that Secretary Clinton is a big government left of center Democrat, but I do not think she is nearly as big government as President Obama, nor as left as President Obama. I also believe she will move toward the center to try to secure a second term and a less disputed legacy.
My next question; will Chelsea move into politics? If so, I think Secretary Clinton will continue to be about power and influence, not about the best interests of the nation.

I always thought that the amounts of money we saw as the cost of war, when it was on the news, is where liberals find ways to take money.
