Cliff notes version... Lack of enough food caused hunger/compromised immune systems of Roman citizens making them more susceptible to sickness. Plague hits. Roman roads create an ancient super highway to transport disease from city to city. There was not just one plague but multiple on a relatively short to me so angry, couple that with lower birth rates and you have a severe shortage of military aged males to fill the ranks of the Roman legions, no soldiers, no empire. The end.
