On March 28, 1935, the influential Nazi propaganda film "Triumph of the Will" was released showing the Nuremberg rallies. The film, along with Olympia about the 1936 Berlin Olympics, remain two of the most memorable Nazi propaganda films and were directed by Leni Riefenstahl who remains controversial to this day. The film is one of the most studied propaganda films of all time. The opening scene has Hitler descending from the heavens like a savior of Germany. Riefenstahl never shook her association with Hitler and the Nazi Party. She was accused of using concentration camp prisoners to make one film, Tiefland. Roma ( "gypsy") prisoners from a nearby labor camp at were used as extras. She died in 2003 at the age of 101.

Interesting interview with the late German film director Leni Riefenstahl. She was a excellent
film director in the 1930's when there were no women in that profession. Riefenstahl's friendship
with Adolph Hitler and her production of Nazi propaganda films forever linked her to Hitler and
the Nazi party in Germany. I have Riefenstahl's film "Triumph Of The Will" on DVD and the film
is a excellent study of Nazi propaganda in Germany during Hitler's Third Reich dictatorship.
