SGT (Join to see) I believe this was in one of the old Life in pictures books. When I was in grade school and junior high I had one of these checked out at all times. I was enthralled with seeing history and the captions underneath. Strange as much as I was moved by the pics you would think I would have been more interested in photography, but it was history that captured my imagination.

The famous Robert Capa "death" photo was staged, so this wouldn't be entirely out of the ordinary either. Especially if the photographer had a bone to pick with the Japanese.

That picture says so much about war and what the Japanese did ! In 1972 I went on an exchange program with the Chinese Air Force. Taiwan and some of the Chinese Officers that had lived on Mainland China before sure hadn't forgot what the Japanese did. It made their blood boil to even see Japanese Tourist there in Taiwan. They didn't dwell on the subject but sure didn't have any love for the Japanese in view of what they had done to China.
My uncle had taken a trip to mainland China and talking to an older Chinese that man told them of a field they had planted rice in, they knew once the rice was due for harvest the Chinese would steal it. He was one guy that went to a dam above the rice paddy and rigged explosives in it, sure enough the Japanese soldiers by the hundreds went there to steal that rice, once they were in place He blew up the dam and all those Japanese soldiers drowned. My Uncle is US Army retired and it seems the older man was happy to tell that story and glad He killed those murderirous Japanese soliders
