Interestingly enough, SGT (Join to see), the Sturmgewehr (StG) 44 is U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Don "Wardaddy" Collier's (Brad Pitt) personal weapon of choice in the 2014 movie "Fury". Not a bad movie in my opinion. SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth MSgt David Hoffman CW5 Jack Cardwell LTC Ivan Raiklin, Esq.

Fury is a 2014 American war film written and directed by David Ayer, and starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, and Jason Isaacs. The one thing about movies, I don't recall any commander ever when dispersing troops to strategic positions screaming out "GO GO GO GO". They might use the word once then move on to the next situation. Maybe they do it these days, but to me it's like saying the troops don't know their job.

Looks like an AK to me too, I think the Ruskies copied it and made the AK a clone.

Good article. Thanks for sharing The StG/44 was the worlds first “assault rifle” and a fantastic weapon.
But I would disagree with the author’s contention that it was the inspiration for the AR-15. There is no historical evidence that Eugene Stoner was inspired by the StG/44 when he created the AR-15. The AR-15 was a byproduct of the AR-10 (7.62 mm NATO). The AR-10 was submitted to the Army for competition for the replacement of the M-1 Garand as the new Army requirement was for a magazine fed rifle. But it lost out to the M-14.
Stoner then created the AR-15 as a smaller caliber version of the AR-15 in 5.56 mm.
