A great share chip. One we seldom hear and most know nothing of the struggles and accomplishments of the European Jews.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - much of that history has its roots in medieval Europe, and surprising to many are possible roots in Andalusia (pre-Spain when the Catholic kingdoms were still at odds with one another before consolidation) which is where Jane Gerber (an Inquisition scholar/expert) says Jewish folks settled early on after the destruction of the First Temple. Conversios remained suspect and related to very differently (other than legally) than those who chose to not convert e.g. marginalized, discriminated against. There was terrible antisemitism throughout Europe (courtesy of "the church" inquisition). At one point, later on near the end of medieval times Holland was one of the few places where Jews were not outlawed.
