Can we trust the media ? Yes and No. Our local news stations do a very good job the National.media not so much when it comes to a vast number of topic related stories of great national interest . The saying trust but verify comes to mind. When dealing with the national media.

Sometimes, in their effort to be the first one out with a story, news organizations jump the gun and get something wrong as a result. But most of the time, what they tell us is accurate and things we need to know. Are we to discount all the accurate information, because they sometimes make a mistake? I don't think so.......

MSG Joseph Cristofaro - Yes.......and what is being reported "elsewhere" is far from being correct in all instances as well. Have you been listening to the POTUS and comparing what he says to what are known facts? He is in no position to be critical of the media IMHO.

I'll just say that nobody puts out more fake stuff than Trump himself.

When Trump admits what he said on the Access Hollywood tape and apologizes for it, and now says it wasn't him (although Billy Bush says, yeah, it was you and you said that, Donald), that isn't expressing an opinion.....that is trying to change a fact by telling a lie. When Trump said he had nothing to do with the Russians, and neither did anyone in his campaign, that was not expressing an opinion......that was trying to shape the news, with a lie. When it came out that his son was in a meeting with Russians in Trump tower, Trump helped create an explanation for what happened in that meeting that was a complete fabrication.....that was not expressing an opinion, it was telling a lie to try and shape the news, and to cover up what his son had done. When he says things like "greatest ever".......biggest ever"......."most in history".......those can be called his opinions......because they sure aren't factual in nature......and it comes across as the bragging of an egoist. But those things mentioned above......and I could go on and on with similar examples......those are not opinions......those are lies, and they are told with a purpose in mind. Obama's comments about Nazi Germany are unfortunate.....we are far from that.....but I think his point was that many of the tactics that Hitler used to rise to power are being seen in today's political environment. "Tell a lie often enough, and people will believe it"......."Blame everything on immigrants and those that are not like us".......those are things that Hitler used effectively......and Trump has tended to do them as well. Our democracy is much stronger than Germany had in the 1930's......so I don't see us ending up in a similar situation......but some of what Trump has done, and successfully, comes from that playbook.
