This article is a couple of years old, but I'm posting it now because it contains a pair of videos that detail the unheralded story of the men and women working on ships (aka Merchant Mariners) and watercraft that helped thousands upon thousands of people evacuate Lower Manhattan that day. Everyone knows about the firemen and policemen. I thought this story should be told, as well.
