I've often heard the M1 Carbine being maligned but it was a lot better than equipping all the rear area soldiers with .45s.

Huge fan of the carbine. I have been collecting them for the last 12 years or so, my Dad even longer. They are fun to shoot, easy to maintain, and pack a wallop for what they are. 15 rounds of a fast firing, no recoil, basically .357+ round is a potent little weapon. They were more popular and handy then a lot of "historians" let on.
