Nice, it has new hard points for weapons. However firing missiles from standoff distances isn't dogfighting.

True, and one reason the Vulcan cannon had to be put of the F4 Phantom during the Vietnam war, to enable dogfighting. The missiles couldn't lock on a target too close in and the Enemy Migs had the advantage them as they did have guns. The Pilots certainly knew this but it seem Armchair Commandos in Washington failed to understand this basic concept of dogfighting and close in aerial combat. The fact the Vulcan cannon had to be added to close this gap says a lot about the ignorance of not understanding the concept of close in weapons vs long distance is pretty disturbing and some of them Washington crowd still hasn't figured that out. When the newer F4E came into production the guns were now in the leading edge of the wings where they should have been anyway from the offset.

Understood, I'm just telling you I saw the video of the guy who designed the F-16 and the A-10 Warthog and he was stating that the surfaces of the F-35 Wing doesn't make it conducive to dog fighting. Yes, standoff missiles won't cut it but eventually the F-35 to everybody's buying worldwide will come Toe to Toe in daylight with a 4th generation fighter and that won't be a good situation unless the pilot is really good.

Any Warplane relying on Missiles is like an infantry man with only grenades.
Suicidal at best.
