Major,
I believe our Navy has powerful missiles that already travel at several times the speed of sound. Given the relatively short flight time and lack of need to protect a human pilot the technology for heat damage avoidance isn't too far out. The current drone technology of the United States most certainly includes the use of drones far out and ahead of any surface fleet allowing sufficient time for launch no matter what the speed of the weapon. A surfacing submarine can't possibly launch a weapon quickly enough or undetected late enough to prevent same. This would also require the loss of an extremely valuable submarine and crew. In other words a suicide mission. Considering the way China reacts to the loss of a single airplane or pilot it seems unlikely that such a tactic is a huge probability.

To be honest, I think that is an over-the-top headline LTC (Join to see)
At this point in time out missile and counter-missile technology is most likely superior to bot the Chinese and Russian technology.
They may well have more missiles but accuracy is much important than sheer numbers in this case.
