I think a coalition in this case makes a lot sense. This sends a louder message.

As long as we do, they won’t. The Brits did chase off Iranian boats going after a Brit ship.

USCG has been in Middle East a few times. Ops are ran similar to Vietnam patrols. Mother ship supporting air ops and 80-110ft cutter squadron.
