Issue is not about using troops during civil unrest. The problem is using unidentified federal law enforcement outside their jurisdiction.

During Bonus March and Little Rock, soldiers were in uniform and did not formally arrest people. In Portland, federal operatives not in standard uniform have detained protesters without proper arrest procedures or following due process (I.e. specifying charges, proper booking, allowing legal counsel)

Of course they were peaceful protestors because your property wasn’t being destroyed, you weren’t assaulted etc. the officers wear patches that identify who they are etc. the protests have been going on for 50 days. It is time to end. Launching commercial grade fire works and hurling projectiles is certainly peaceful. Estimates of damage to downtown businesses is $23 million, however that figure is in dispute. When told to leave then returning, how peaceful. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/18/us/portland-protest-arrests/index.html
