Sure, it would be nice to have more veterans in Congress. But, that's not going to happen, is it? Especially with such a low turnover. Voters keep sending back the same people and incumbents aren't going to magically become veterans. However, it shouldn't be necessary. Congress is called upon to consider many issues with which members have scant knowledge and experience if any. They're supposed to invite subject matter experts to make sure that their deliberations are based on facts and circumstances. Sadly, they don't. They invite celebrities and lobbyists. They listen to opinions and bribes. How do you fix it? Reduce government. Reduce its impact on our lives. Get them out of businesses that they have no business meddling in. Term limits would also help but that fix is about as likely as reducing the size of government, isn't it?
