We need to understand that Russia is not only a country but a civilization. The Russians have legitimate interests and aspirations, u.s. foreign policy experts used to understand this. Now we see the most ridiculous attempts at demonization and ridicule which do not enhance our understanding of, or Security in the world in the least.

Thanks for sharing LT COL this is an interesting read. It makes very valid point s I don't trust Russia as far as I can throw then but future middle East operations will require some Russian support. I'm just hoping that some solution is found though to encourage Vladamir Putin to step down and make way for new president I know it's unlikely but he's the major reason we can't trust Russia right now.

When will we ever learn? We took our worst enemies, Japan and Nazi Germany, and converted them into strong allies after defeating them in war. Why couldn't we do the same with Russia? Because we need an enemy and by God we're going to have one. Russia. The Left needs Russia to cover their loss, not just of an election but the inertia they had built in "fundamentally changing America". Well, if you want an enemy just treat them like an enemy and you'll have one. Threaten them and you'll drive them into the arms of a strong man who makes promises to keep them safe. It doesn't matter that he has nothing to back up those promises. People in a panic will grasp anything as a life preserver when they're in a panic. If you really want to know the real enemy we face, just look into a mirror...

PO1 John Crafton - We were at war with the Soviet Union and won. I know it's not politically correct to say we won, but we did. We now have troops in many pieces of the Soviet Union and we were getting along with Russia until it became politically expedient to create an enemy out of them. Now, which "nations" has Russia actively taken over? Please name them. They have reclaimed a portion of the Ukraine, a portoin that they admittedly have some claim to. No, there was great potential for making an ally of Russia. Consider where the real threat lies these days: China. Just as we once used China to offset the threat of the Soviet Union, we could use Russia to offset the threat of China. Those two share a common and highly contested border. China desperately needs resources and Siberia is rich in them. But, oh no, we can't do that. We need to use Russia as a convenient excuse for the lose of the election.
