These Marine Aces Were Some of the Best Fighter Pilots of World War II

I was privileged to meet Joe Foss at the National Rifle Association convention in Philadelphia and he was a very humble man with a fancy cowboy hat, a big cigar and the most wonderful self depreciating sense of humor. I was in utter awe of him and I said so His reply to me was "I wonder kind of medal the Japs would have given me if I fucked up one more Corsair then I would have been a Japanese ace?" After that I was even in more awe of him.
