This type of thing happens all over the country. In Florida, they pay farmers not to produce any fruits and vegetables. I really don't understand the logic behind this one where we use tax dollars to pay farmers not to grow anything.

You don't need Government Agriculture Departments if you don't control the agriculture and manipulate output/demand. If demand isn't high enough, they will not vote you back in.
