Great post and it is true that property tax is crazy. You have to look into the homestead act. They can help with your property tax. I retired and moved to Texas and with 100 percent disability with the VA, TX waves your property tax, and many other things for Veterans.

Tennessee is a great place to live, 2d Lt Cinthia W.! No state income tax and modest property taxes make the bottom line easily manageable.
Fuel taxes are a little high, but revenue must come from somewhere, and everyone traveling through the state that gasses up, contributes to the State of Tennessee!

This article mentions the high property taxes in Texas, but for veterans there are some tax breaks. All disabled vets get discounts on their property taxes. 100% DVs get a 100% exemption, meaning that you would pay no state income tax, no property tax, and no inheritance/estate tax.
BONUS: Texas veterans get our kids’ college tuition and housing for free (at state universities).

SGM (Join to see) I was actually discussing that with a colleague of mine, this is a great article but like you said, it does not mention the tax benefits for veteran's with disability ratings!
One of my closest friends is moving to Texas tomorrow with her family. Her and her husband both served and are excited to take advantage of the benefits Texas has to offer.
