Well, Part 67 hasn't been written yet, but much of the reform is farcical.
The bill, as written, now requires responsibility for medical certification to be placed in the laps of GPs and other non-aviation oriented or trained medical providers (and put THEIR names on the line as responsible physician.)
Contrary to belief and desire, it is NOT a self-certification as is done with ultralights or balloons.
You can thank Sen. Feinstein for that
and you might find a number of said physicians refusing to sign off on it because of said responsibility (and that's before the malpractice industry gets involved)
Also surmised is that companies insuring FBOs and clubs that provide rentals will also disallow those without Class III or higher from being rented to.
So, the whole thing might end up as a fantasy

I'm not following you.
You still have the option of going to an AME, but if you choose not, you will have to see a regular (non-aviation) physician every 4 years and they will have to follow the present provisions of Part 67 and certify you for flight (at their responsibility). Will they agree to that? Who knows. The reform legislation is trying to pass responsibility to your family doctor rather than an FAA doctor, is the bottom line (regardless of the propaganda). And many organizations may not accept the changes (especially those holding insurance policies).
And, if you are flying larger aircraft or doing commercial or higher, doesn't apply

I follow, many thanks...I'd just, as I'd said, been told about the change, I just figured it might be of interest, honest.
