Two of my friends died within the last 2-3years. Both like brothers and both Wx Forecasters. SMSgt Floyd Parton also worked at Hickam, AFB, at the Solar Observatory and then finally at the Treasury Dept near Hopkinsville, KY. God them both! I am still in touch with Floyd's family. God is good! LTC Stephen F. SGT (Join to see) TSgt Bob Dalpe <-another forecaster

That's the best attitude a person can have when they lose someone close, SSgt (Join to see). Sorry to hear your friends died.

Thanks for sharing the story SGT (Join to see). I am glad Farmers Insurance helped her.
Years ago one of their reps told me the accident their client had with me outside Fort Belvoir didn't happen = deplorable and despicable after we exchanged insurance information when I was rear ended.
FYI SSgt (Join to see)

LTC Stephen F., We used to have Farmers. I was involved in a wreck with a woman who had passed out. She hit two trucks, one van, and hit my car in the front end. She also had Farmers and it took over two months before we got a settlement. Than, in the same year, our homeowners insurance increased over $2000 a year. We found better, cheaper insurance for our cars and home through Amica. We had been with Farmers for 25 years.

Now that is the kind of success story a person likes to read. Note also it did not happen overnight, getting a full time degree, changing career fields again, and working disaster response for 5 years, a lot of dues paid along the way and she did not jump into mgt overnight. Transitioning SMs must be ready to acknowledge and accept starting at an entry level position and taking the time to achieve and work yr way up. This is a good example of how military skills and traits paid off in the civilian world.
