This Handler Found The Perfect Way To Honor The Memory Of His Fallen Military Working Dog

Treo, a Black Labrador Retriever–English Springer Spaniel mix, is one of the most famous military dogs to have fought the Taliban. Working with his handler, Sgt. Dave Heyhoe, the pup’s job was to detect explosives in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Expertly trained by Britain’s Royal Army Veterinary Corps, Treo’s detection skills saved dozens of lives. He was so good at his job that the Taliban had a name for him: “the Black dog.”
