How about that 13 year old girl who her stepfather or brother or uncle or someone else raped? Do you think she should have to live with a reminder of probably the worst experience of her life every day? No? How are you going to help her then??

Well, if this law stands, she would still have multiple options. First, she could get an abortion prior to 15 weeks. Second she could offer the child for adoption. Third, under safe haven laws, she can drop the child off and surrender her parental rights with no repercussions.

She will likely live with the memory of that day regardless of whether or not she raises the child. Trauma like that doesn't just go away. The "reminder of the trauma" argument is an exceptionally weak one.

"We're here to help y'all," one young woman called to patients on a summer morning this year. "Please don't do this."
Really? How are you going to help that single mother who is working three jobs because her husband left her? Are you going to buy her groceries? How about buying her kids clothes? Maybe some free babysitting so she can have some "me" time? No??? Unless you are willing to step up and actually help her, shut up.
