This month in N.J. History: July

It was a sad day for the nation when on "JULY 11, 1804, Vice President Aaron Burr fatally shot his longtime political antagonist Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton, a leading Federalist and the chief architect of America's political economy, died the following day."
Alexander Hamilton is remembered by many in a favorable light. However, with exception of historians, Aaron Burr is generally membered for this duel.
