Want me to be the naysayer here?? OK, the HPV vaccine is effective against only two genotypes and cervical cancer is not common, around .7 percent of the cancer deaths in the US. According to their own statistics, less than .6 percent of women with become have cervical cancer in their lifetimes. The risk for men is even less, especially for non bisexual or gay men. So at what point does a vaccine that doesn't really protect you from all the forms of a disease that is uncommon become more of a danger of reaction or side effects than it's effectiveness dictates?
About half the Flue vaccines these days are so ineffective that I seriously doubt that they are worth the risk.

Another thought along similar lines are the medical professionals and others who say it is not 'worth' getting PSA testing because your statistical chances of getting prostate cancer are the same either way. I got my test and it saved my life. I guess I was destined to get cancer from the get go and should have ignored the testing. So much for science.

Capt Tom Brown - Their point seems to be that your survival rate is the same whether you catch it early or are symptomatic. My father survived it 35 years ago and was symptomatic, so it was very treatable even then. I don't do PSA testing every year anymore.

You are so incorrect about who gets the cancers. I know from personal experience the cancer have little to do with sexual preference and the disinformation about these cancers is appalling.
The are proven 100% effective against a group of cancers.
Both boys and girls need to get these vaccines in their early teens

How effective is the HPV vaccine?
The vaccine has been proven to offer almost 100% protection from HPV types 6, 11, 16 and 18.

MSgt Michael Bischoff - You have to read the fine print. HPV 6 and 11 are low risk, 16 and 18 high risk, but there are over 100 variations on this virus. Even Web MD, which is as pro vaccine as you can get, points out that 16 and 18 are believed to be around 70 percent those that cause cancer and claims "near" 100 percent effectiveness against those two. Certainly men other than Bi Sexuals and Gays get Genital and Anal Cancer, but there are 160 million males in this country but only about 2000 cases of genital cancer and a bit more with Anal Cancer, the death rate doesn't even register on the CDC cancer death list. Even cervical cancer is way down the list, way lower than prostate cancer and they don't even recommend get tested for that one any more. So we are spending a lot of money giving people vaccines for a disease that they most likely won't get and is preventable with regular checks today. https://www.webmd.com/sexual-conditions/hpv-genital-warts/hpv-vaccines-human-papillomavirus#1
