Looking at the colleges listed, I can see the claim on some level. ITT Tech was notorious for making claims about hireability and potential earnings while underplaying the fact that many employers didn't value ITT diplomas at near the level of DOL average earnings. This is a huge problem when coupled with the extraordinary cost of the degree.

I used to work in admissions for one of the companies listed and yeah, value vs cost were not in line. The whole thing was super shady with the claims and how we were taught to treat potential students. I didn't stick around long.

So does the College have to pay back the loan or the person who ok'd the loan. And can anyone look at them with a strait face.

When the Dept of Education proves actual fraud, they make the school pay it back. They recently did it with one college. But that "may or may not" apply in this case, as they'll have investigate each case in batches.

This seems to be an increasing concern, especially in the distance learning realm. Students, especially military members who depend on the distance learning frameworks to complete their educational goals seem to be experiencing higher instances of "educational delivery" issues. Although I agree with a previous post above that we all make choices to take the education, be sure to investigate the net for pending or recent claims against the school you are looking at. Be sure to look for any lawsuits and of course accreditation. Don't write off distance learning or "hybrid" programs as many employers are well-impressed with those who can work, live and go to school simultaneously as it demonstrates great flexibility and time management. Best of luck....
