Great read and very good points and suggestions made! Think all will agree that this is a read well worth saving! The revolution in communications occurred about 2007 - changing the very way we communicate with each other and the individuals ability to be globally connected instantly and constantly. As that happened - Big Army was still waiting on something else and for 3 years did not embrace social media at all. It never has caught up since then - and the next generation of leaders have to bridge the gap created that was more guided by fears of the negative aspects vs looking to see what all could be done. Unfortunately - or enemies do not have that issue - and learned far more about using social media for other means.

Social media is amazing when used the right way. The biggest problem people run into is there is a ton of self proclaimed experts that have zero clue of what they're talking about.

Seemed to be a line of them for a while - many experts without the ability to look past their own niche.... and they did hold sway over policy. Even when the Aussies really made a great example of what you could do at their 1st BDE... it was overlooked and we still are not to where they were 5 years back.

The USAF did move out with social media.. and it is very telling in many ways these days and many good examples of what can be done and interaction.
