Given the extraordinary low levels of engagement in the U.S. workforce — a recent Gallup poll showed that 70% of employees are “not engaged” or “actively disengaged” at work — many leaders are looking for solutions. Some turn to material perks (bonuses, game rooms, free food) in the hopes of making employees happier. However, research suggests that these efforts, while appreciated, do not address more effective drivers of long-term well-being. That might help ... but it won't be enough .... the problem is not about the management level at all ... it is the culture of the society problem. All the trick and method the management can use will only minimize the effect of a bad culture that spread through generation now ...

Our culture has fell into the pit of "we are due this and that". Lost is the small pleasure of pride in completing a mission. Satisfaction in a job well done. Until we(as a nation) get back the attitude of What can we do for our country, we'll continue down this chosen path.
