"I don't think I would," he said when asked in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “This is the moment where, in some ways, our personal choices are going to have to reflect our opinions. We have to start voting, actually, before the election. So, I would probably vote not to go.”
“[Nixon] took on the First Amendment by saying: ‘You can't tell that story, and if you do, we're going to threaten you,’” Hanks said. “That is going on, of course, right now … Right now, without a doubt, there are people in power trying to — if not quash or stop the right to publication, denigrate it to the point [where] they are saying there is no truth to it whatsoever.”
“There used to be this concept … ‘You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts, facts are irrefutable,’” Hanks continued. “Well, it turns out people are saying: ‘No, facts are not irrefutable. We can decide whatever facts that we want, that we would like.’”
“I didn't think things were going to be this way last November,” he said in the interview. “I would not have been able to imagine that we would be living in a country where neo-Nazis are doing torchlight parades in Charlottesville and jokes about Pocahontas are being made in front of the Navajo code talkers.”

Tom Hanks: I would vote against screening new movie at Trump's White House
Tom Hanks would “probably not” screen his new film, “The Post,” at the White House if asked by President Trump, nor would he attend a screening, the actor said in a Wednesday interview.

Do people not realize that celebrities are voters too and they have every right to have a say in politics? I bet if it was a celebrity that loved Trump there would be very few of the same people on here telling Hanks to "pound sand" telling that celebrity to mind his or her own business too. It is his business as it is anyone else in this country who votes - regardless of their occupation.

True story, Ted Nugent wanted to hang Obama... did a quick search on this site and there wasn't a topic about him. God forbid Tom Hanks doesn't want to take time out of his day to show a movie to the president though...

I've always thought Tom Hanks much better than most of the celebrities. He seems sane and seldom seeks the spotlight, even though there are many stories of the good deeds he's done for ordinary people. He is not just complaining--he said he didn't think this way last November, which means the pres started out with a clean slate with him. He also cited the incidents he found unacceptable. I think his reasons are sound (I felt the same way about every one of them and didn't know how anyone could defend them). He said "at this point" which makes me think he had given it thought. You are right, he's a voter and has a right to say it--and he has a more credible platform than most of them.

He was asked if he would if asked and he said no - there is no plan to screen it at the White House. Why would it be screened there anyway? Trump likes to watch Fox News.
