This should anger all of us, that love and care about our Military and the men and women who serve in harm's way. I have said several times lately here on RP that the organizing principal of the Pentagon and defense spending today is not fighting and winning this nation's wars or providing our war fighters the very best equipment and weapons that money spent wisely can buy. No, the organizing principal of defense spending is to maximize profits and spread out big ticket defense projects in as many states as possible, thereby creating constituencies within Congress that make it all but impossible to kill of unnecessary or wasteful or failing defense projects.

It was no less than President Ike Eisenhower who warned us about the greed and power of the "military Industrial complex." Nothing has changed since then. If anything, the consolidations that have occurred in the defense industry that occurred under Bill Clinton's presidency, with the tax payer picking up much of the costs of the consolidations have made them even stronger!

Thanks for letting us know Capt Lance Gallardo about the latest Tomgram from William Hartung. Wasteful government spending unfortunately has been a thorn in the side of defense spending goals and warfighting for many decades.
