I suppose I was fortunate, my military specialty was telecommunications and electronics. That was where I ended up for the next twenty or so years outside the government.

SGT (Join to see) - A Business Analyst is someone that usually a large coorperation will hire if they are having financial troubles, up coming IRS audits, sometimes there growing so fast that they don't know how to expand without financially devastation. I don't do it for large companies anymore because I don't have the time to commit as a single mom.
So I started helping small local companies that don't require my presence all the time. I get paperwork in order, fix filing in the event of an IRS audit, fix inventory, update all legal areas. Stuff like that. One company I saved them $83,000in one quarter, which was mostly because of poor paperwork keeping, theft by employees and not actually keeping track of inventory. A bed and breakfast I helped last year I gained them $53,000, pretty much did the same thing, but her lack of finances wasn't anything that could be fixed. Because she was the problem when it came to her business. She ran it like a hobby instead of a business to avoid paying federal taxes. So I left that one. Now I'm helping a friend with his solar company. I offered to get him access to his business credit, Federal grants for research and expansion and help him get $90,000 back from the IRS as he was a victim of bad tax preparation.
We're pretty much the reason companies become coorperations. But don't confuse us with Business Consultants...lol... there like the ROTC Cadet program, a whole lot of talk and no action.

Some people are Entrepreneurs and can't stand working for others, at great financial risk, we seriously need them. My preference was to do as I did in the military, dedicate myself to the agency or company and work my butt off, sometimes at the expense of my personal life. Either can pay off.

MCPO Roger Collins - I am also an entrepreneurial, I am Building my own company off of four medical inventions. It has taken quit a few years to get the patents on a few of them but I believe I will be movingly forward for sure this year. I have a lot access to Federal and state grants to help a long with the process. But there are a lot of people that don't know how to access these let a lone look them up. There a lot of grants for veterans who are opening business or expanding businesses that I have helped them access. I don't write the grant letters anymore as again stated above I don't have that much extra time being a single mom.
But yes, I was definitely an over achiever and married to my career. So I know what you mean by dedicated, sometimes I think maybe I was over dedicated...lol...

Absolutely! It's definitely not just someone's political agenda - it's a matter of taking care of those who served our country!
