Kind of an unfair comparison. The Tesla has motors directly on the drive wheels -- no energy is lost in a transmission drive train. No gas engine will ever be the equal of electric cars in this particular scenario because of that. ALL of the car's 700 horse make it to the wheels immediately, as opposed to the Hellcat's, which has to go through the trannie, et al. That said, I'll still take that Hellcat over the Tesla, any day of the week.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - thank you for letting me know. Ironically, I am driving a Ford Fusion Hybrid rental car while I'm here in California for my weekend drill. Actually it's a weekend drill with an extra day added on because I'm missing a couple days in December I'm making half the it up. I drove that Ford Fusion Hybrid it was kind of bizarre because you push the button and you don't realize that it's actually on and you put the knob to reverse the car will move on its own. You put it in drive it moves on its own it creeps until you press the throttle and the engine comes on. You come to a stop light and you hit the brakes the brakes recharge the battery and after a couple seconds the engine turns off. I am actually managing 44 miles per gallon with a V6 hybrid doing almost 80 miles per hour. I drove to Fort Irwin from my mom's house in Banning California and then I drove to my unit in Garden Grove and then back to my mom's house in Banning California. I can't believe that a high performance V6 car can kit 44 miles per gallon due to it being partly Electric. I'm glad to know that the lithium batteries are not a big deal at all.

Even Porshe has a hybrid now . I am saving money another way driving the 94 dodge pickup I bought about a decade ago until the wheels fall off.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - My uncle has had the same pickup since the 60's. He's put like 4 engines and 3 trannies in it or something. Refuses to change it up.
