How much do you NEED to know? Not as much as we'd like, but way less than you know now anyway. We have the right to know what would affect us on a daily basis, but not the NEED. Military folks are familiar with the drill. I'd like to be in on lots of stuff, but it doesn't affect me on a daily basis and I don't have anything useful to do with the info anyway.
I think it was Sec Def Rumsfeld that said "We don't know what we don't know". Works for me!

TSgt David L. Unfortunately/Fortunately I Never had the Privilege of Not Knowing for 21 Years. I had to Provide the Communications for every Operation and Project. I Remember looking at my Clearance Message Once with 25 digraphs/trigraphs of the Programs I was read into and it ended with the Proverbial Catch All Communicators Clearance. You wanted to do something Good, Bad or Indifferent you had to tell me what it was. Being part of Hijacking Hijackers, Achile Lauro, was pretty cool. Handling the Messages for Iran-Contra, Once I Understood It, Not So Much.

The Public's Interest is on the Housewives of (Insert Your City Here) PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Those who are truly invested in the acquisition of accurate information know where to get it. Others at least have faith that the government is operating in their best interests with oversight from committees that will act as checks and balances. COL Mikel J. Burroughs SFC Joe S. C-Span. If you wait patiently enough you will see cliffhangers more gripping and entertaining than Scandal on ABC.

A1C Ian Williams unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of those invested in acquiring the accurate information have no idea where to find it. Even if they did, they wouldn’t have the clearance to access it.
As interesting as CSPAN is to watch, it’s certainly not the pinnacle of truth or accuracy as to what the government is doing.
Best of luck.
