I recall reading this article in a magazine. Good read on a war long forgotten and a battle also forgotten. Author is more familiar with the French and Sardinians - and seems to be less so with the Austro-Hungarian forces. These days Magenta is an important battle because we got the color magenta named after it..

It is a quite detailed piece, I must admit...I hadn't seen that aspect before, I was familiar with a lot of the period, though not hat specific aspect, in particular....
