LTC John Griscom Though they did cover the Pusan Perimeter, they did not state how decimated the 27th Infantry became during that battle, that decimation and their actions to overcome that is what made them excel in that battle.
Side note - my father was initially in the 3rd Battalion 29th Infantry which was an attachment to the 27th Infantry, the battalion then became the 3rd Battalion 27th Infantry when the regiment was reorganized due to losses suffered during the Pusan Perimeter battle.
