Don’t think this is a great idea - humanitarian issues aside, imagine being a rancher and having your cattle blown up, or you blown up patrolling your land. That also would require the government to “acquire” all this land to do this at the expense of people who live there, when the land that a border wall takes up is significantly less onerous on border citizens.

Meanwhile what is then to stop coyotes from finding and unburrowing the mines, to use them for who knows what? Legally, a minefield has to be marked, so it won’t be some secret.

Um, no. Entering the US without authorization is a misdemeanor and that's just "a bit" of excessive force.

Not to mention those things are humanitarian disasters, killing and maiming people for decades after they have outlived their planned use.
