This will definitely clash with California's policies. I love CA. Most progressive state in my opinion. Why does the government get involved in something so obviously controversial? I just don't get it.

I dislike the AP, with is where this originates, as their articles are click-bait. First and foremost there is no scientific or medical definition of "transgender". There is a medical definition of Gender-dysphoria and Transsexualism, which is well established. The meaning of words are important.

'Transgender: denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex.'
Transsexual is getting medical aid to change said birth sex and is an older term often not preferred due to its link to physical appearance.
Gender dysphoria is the psychological aspect that leads to one or both. They are very linked and in psychology around gender, sexual orientation, and sex at birth they are very well known definitions nowadays.
