Well, we know people have gotten things wrong throughout (only) the 5,500-year (recorded) history of our planet. From Wikipedia: "These timelines of world history detail recorded events since the creation of writing roughly 5000 years ago (which marks the beginning of history) ...". We can't know people got things wrong before they started writing them down, but it is likely they got things wrong even before they could write. Of course, people can't get things wrong if they don't exist (yet), so we're not talking about the geological age of the planet here.
