An opposing view ... Many members of Congress are predictably denouncing and dismissing the proposed cuts in the Presidents proposed Budget. However, as with most politicians who feel they are accountable only to themselves, they are in denial of the large reforms needed to ward off a inevitable Greek-style financial crisis in this country. Nonetheless, it is a FACT that we are headed in that direction unless we dispense with business-as-usual budgeting in Washington. Accordingly, despite all the hyperbole and vitriolic commentary (mainly from the whiny Liberal base - but a few Republicans as well), the Trump budget is a challenge to Congress to start paring back our dangerously bloated welfare state. So despite the protestations of Uncle Bernie and his unicorn economics vision - there is no magic money tree in Washington, as the $20 trillion federal debt makes clear.

Trump’s ‘draconian’ budget barely dents spending increases
President Trump issued his first federal budget Tuesday, and critics have been quick to call the proposals cruel and heartless. It would cut federal spending by $3.6 trillion over the next 10 years…

SSgt Ray Stone - SSG Stone - since you are so caring and altruistic - stop whining about cuts and pay more taxes. You can certainly send more of your income to the Government. What's stopping you?

SSgt Ray Stone - I would like to commend you for volunteering to pay MORE Federal Income taxes in order to offset the the draconian cuts proposed by POTUS. Such altruism should be honored and celebrated. I am sure that all your like minded Liberal colleagues will join you in also voluntarily increasing their Federal Income tax withholding to a higher bracket. I am humbled by such devotion to the welfare of others. Bravo Sir - well played

Loved listening to Paul Ryan claiming Congress finally has a president that is willing to propose a balance budget. Think he meant to say, GOP finally has a president that wants a budget filled with tax cuts for wealthy, increased defense industry spending, cuts to social programs and healthcare, and my favorite, the trillions in savings will come from projected growth in economy even though there is no plan for growing the economy. HAHAHA!

Cutting corporate taxes and fair trade will be enough to get the economy going.

Cpl Mark A. Morris - Where did we hear that before? That's right, from Reagan, then Bush, and now many of the GOP governors today.

Cpl Mark A. Morris - I enjoy this article particularly for how he highlights the apples and oranges that illustrate the economic situation and policies of both administration. But for our discussion, focus on how Reagan had to scale back his tax cuts along with efforts from the Federal Reserve to combat inflation, we saw our economy improved. Reagan was not correct.
