This is a surprising name to see on the list. Admiral Howard is the commander of U.S. Naval Forces, Europe, and the highest-ranking women in Navy history. Do you think that kind of skill set translate to leading and reforming the VA more effectively than Secretary Bob McDonald's corporate background?

What former military leader has done well managing the VA? What business person has done well leading the VA? Point being, the system is unmanageable and no one has the skill set to meet the challenges that exist. They are systemic. We need a premier independent firm to analyze the organization and determine how it should be managed. Then actually use that report.

While I think her record is deserving of chance I happen to believe you always need the right person for the right job. Ones credentials doesn't equate to job success. Personally I think this is such a complex industry with so many
Problems I would rather see a CEO from Sharp, UCSD or other large healthcare with a great reputation recruited for the job. 2nd in command should be someone who came from the military!
