Thank you SSG(P) (Join to see) for bringing this to the forefront for us to read... In my view, but not knowing all the facts, this Navy Seal shouldn't have even be in a Navy Brig! This Navy Seal Chief, was fighting in a war Zone against ISIS, OUR ENEMY!!! After placing our Troops in Harm's way, we ostracize him for making a split second decision... If the tables were reversed, this ISIS combatant would not have hesitated one microsecond to behead the Chief or shoot, knife or whatever! The Chief is a decorated Navy Seal!!! He is not a criminal in my book...

I concur with you, my friend SSG(P) (Join to see) Innocent until proven guilty is not as common anymore with 24/7 media, etc.

Throughout his 19 years of service, Chief Gallagher earned the Bronze Star with V for Valor twice, a Meritorious Unit commendation, and a trio of Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medals, among other recognitions and decorations. Plus he has fought in Iraq and Afghanistan several times, which means he probably has at least 3 years in a combat zone.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - without at all discrediting the man’s service, his decorations seem appropriate for his career field and length of service. He might even be a nice guy.
I guess I’m of the opinion that the term ‘hero’ gets thrown around too loosely. But simply deploying about 15% of his career and getting some mid-tier medals aren’t automatic qualifiers for ‘hero’ status.
