I read the Association of the United States Army magazine article on BG Ty Seidule's book Robert E. Lee and Me: A Southerner’s Reckoning with the Myth of the Lost Cause. I have had the same views for over forty years. He demonstrates that the lost cause myth has perpetuated white supremacy. He discusses some of the myths like the war was about state's rights, that slaves were treated well and were happy before the war, and the Marble Man myth of Robert E. Lee. He urges a more critical examination of Robert E. Lee.
