Great video. I think it's important to note, given the resistance today by many about women serving in combat arms units, that for most of the milestones highlighted in this video, the policy changes that made them possible were recommended against by the senior military leaders of the time and resisted by the Army body as a whole. Most were basically forced upon the military by politicians who had the foresight and wisdom to understand the broader ramifications and benefits to both our military and our country when citizens are allowed equal opportunities based upon merit.

Sadly, the military has proven itself time and time again to be a protector of the status quo, whether that was no integration of blacks, no opportunities for women, and more recently the resrtrictions on LGBT citizens. The progress the military celebrates today was essentially accomplished in spite of, rather than because of, the efforts of the military and its senior leadership. And they were clawed out by exceptional women having to perform under often hostile rather than supportive leaders and peers.
