IMO the World Cup is a time every four years when Americans pretend to care about soccer, and then forget about it for the next for years. Except this time, when we forget about it for 8 years since the US team didn't even qualify to go. ;)

MSgt Ken "Airsoldier" Collins-Hardy - how many people on RP, without googling it, could even say how many teams there are in US major league soccer, what cities they are in, or name one player on each team? CMSgt Virgil Horsley - it's sort of a funny thing in the US. There seems to be tons of kids playing organized soccer. The term "soccer mom" even entered the lexicon. Yet something happens along the way, and by the time you get to a professional level, the interest just disappears.
