Obsolete - ROFLMAO and SMH All this really is, is a scare tactic of Eisenhower's Military-Industrial Complex. In regards to one statement about CSBA, if they were so smart about foretelling the future about military needs and budgeting, how did they lose a contract that was 40% of their income? Or maybe, they could and predicted that Mr. Trump would win the election and follow through with his promise of draining the swamp. Now wouldn't that be something?
US Aircraft Carriers becoming obsolete because China is going to have a similar parity to what the Japanese had at the US entrance to WWII?
As far as Submarines are concerned, I am not that much of a student of naval and submarine warfare, but I can already start picking holes in part of the theory presented. "Today, ‘big data’ processing enables advanced navies to run sophisticated oceanographic models in real time to exploit these detection techniques." Heck, the US Navy has been a prime consumer of 'big data' processing for a very long time, BUT that does not mean that the capability being described is that accessible to the end user.
As far as stealth aircraft are concerned, the problem with radar detection has been an ongoing discussion since WWII, there is nothing new there that was not previously anticipated. If I remember correctly the subject of old style HF radar was brought up during the initial stealth trials and dismissed BECAUSE it was supposedly obsolete. Well, well.

The United States has led the world for many years with respect to weapons of war and the associated technology, PO1 Tony Holland. I like to think that we have not become complacent and that we are now and have been considering and working on the weapons and technologies that will allow us to maintain our superiority. Time will tell.
