Well its not the first time and it won't be the last. A ton of vets and sailors protested when they stopped naming submarines after fish. A top Navy official replied: "fish don't vote." My personal opinion? We're short on ships. Let them all have one. Let them fund it too. Lets let celebrities fund their own ships as well, while we're at it. Imagine the USS Jennifer Lopez or the USS Khloe Kardashian. Then of course there would be the USS Metallica or USS Dallas Cowboys. Great. Let 'em all have one.

What name would you have chosen for getting the honor of having a vessel named after them?

SN Greg Wright - I get that, I agree completely... so perhaps my question was too vague... I was just curious who, what great American or Veteran or other would you like to name a boat after...???

Marcus Luttrell comes easily to mind. Mark De Alencar. Honestly, any SM that's died for us, long before I'd give it to Giffords. I'd name one after you or I before I'd give it to a victim in a criminal shooting. What about that ww2 vet that is the oldest vet alive? That guy survived the war and then kicked butt for ANOTHER 85 years after. Him, long before Giffords. I know you take my point.

SSG Pete Fleming - There's a lot of people with more valorous service that I would pick before Harry (MoH winners), however, I would definitely pick Harry before any civilian.
