Thanks for sharing an intriguing discussion COL Ted Mc. I expect our no-fly list is not only behind some Canadian air travel nightmares but some of our own.

Sir,
I think this statement is reasonable "I don't have any problem with an efficient AND accurate AND rational "No Fly" list that contains the names of people REASONABLY SUSPECTED of being POTENTIAL problems aboard aircraft."
However, I have long held the believe that our government is neither "Trustworthy nor Efficient" which runs counter to the reasonableness of the statement as presented. I'd love to believe we could get our act together...but history has shown otherwise, and when you combine that with something like denying the ability to travel... that creates massive philosophical problems for me.
Furthermore, when others start recommending using this Specific List to deny Protected Civil Liberties... I have a real problem.
No one can tell you who is on the list. No one can say what the exact process is to get on it. And as far I can tell, there is no actual means of getting off it. That's just scary.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS - Sergeant; It's not true that no one CAN tell you who is on the list, they can but won't (for "national security reasons").
Worse than that - even though they COULD tell you if YOU are on the list - they WON'T tell you if YOU are on the list (until they bundle you off the aircraft and into detention [even then they WON'T tell you why they are doing it {but they will arrest you for "resisting arrest" if you don't go quietly}]).
You are correct that there is no way to get your name removed from the list (either because it isn't YOUR name [if you AREN'T a terrorist] and you aren't entitled to have it removed [if you ARE a terrorist]). (Besides, asking to have what you claim is "your" name removed from a list that is designed to protect America is highly suspicious and probably grounds to leave your name on the list - if you could ever find out what the grounds for putting names on the list in the first place were.)

COL Ted Mc - In that case, we should probably just put everyone's name on the list. It would cover all bases. Any duplicates were obviously not "you" but suspected terrorists and should remain.
We'll also tax the American public an amount equal to whatever they would have normally spent on air transport just to be safe. Even if they aren't going to be able to fly!
